Think I have a new name for this kind of display: a butterfly plot. Also think it is time to drop the blue inset cumulative plot as distracting and let the butterfly have the whole stage. Each update will include butterfly and dot plots for Arkansas, US, and world.

Interesting turn of phrase, here are the plots — yes I suppose it is true we ‘broke our August record’ but we are well down from July (second row right plot, black dot). Glad I’ve been working the data and have these plots to unravel misleading headlines and articles. Not picking on CBS, there are much worse.
